Flashpoints are multi-part missions introduced with the Battletech: Flashpoint DLC. If you go wandering around, checking out some other areas that look interesting to you, you'll still make it easily. Introducing Flashpoints: high-stakes, branching short stories that link together mercenary missions, crew conversations, special events, critical choices, and rare bonus rewards to take BATTLETECH's endgame and Career-Mode. If you stick to just the tasks put in front of you, you'll beat that easily. BATTLETECH's first-ever expansion adds new gameplay, depth, and over 30 hours of new content to your mercenary experience. For instance, right near the start you're tasked with defeating a bandit lord within 3 (?) months. The game is WAY over 20 hours! Most of the clocks seem to be of the "keep you on task" variety as opposed to the "can you work fast" challenge variety. Or are you talking about the time it takes to take down an enemy? Early on, when you can't target individual parts very well, you have to take out a lot more armor before the target starts breaking down.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with how slow the battles are? There's an option to speed up the animations a bit (and a mod to speed them up even more, though I haven't tried it myself). You're welcome! Yep, moving is definitely handy - especially for the lighter mechs. Sure is a heck of a value for the price you pay, though. Overall, I found it to be just a so-so game. I found the kingdom management tiresome, though, and bugs with pathfinding really drove me up the wall. If you enjoy making detailed characters, the game has that in spades. With their own IP they not only save money, but also build and improve via the use of HBS work. There is little incentive for Paradox the publisher to pay royalty fees to Microsoft for using their IP instead of Paradox own IP. Like Witcher 3, you aren't real likely to do everything there is to do on your first play-through.Īs for whether I recommend it. I wouldnt expect any sort of intention towards taking on another Battletech project for at least the next 5 years - if ever. Honestly, I didn't care very much - there's so many things going on that I just moved on. If you decide you're going to wonder around in circles for weeks on end to clean up on XP from wondering monsters, that could be trouble.Īs mentioned earlier, there are some quests with timers on them. If you go wandering around, checking out some other areas that look interesting to you, you'll still make it easily. If you stick to just the tasks put in front of you, you'll beat that easily. If the 20,- will turn out true in the end, that's just plain greedy, and I'm not willing to support that.Click to expand. The game is WAY over 20 hours! In that case, as much as I love it, i'm not buying it before it's on 50% discount at least. In sum, this DLC offers maybe 10% of the content that the base game has, and it should cost more than 2/3 of the original games price.

Then I heard that Paradox was taking over the Battletech guys, and to be honest, i thought "Wow, that's great, let's hope they start pumping out DLC's for this one too, I'd buy it".īut again i must say, certainly not for 20,- € (or $, doesn't matter that much). I was mocking (for myself) the stellaris game since they are milking their players with DLC's.

Especially since there are so many good mods out (though I don't play Roguetech) But 20,- bucks, that's just too much for what is offered in the DLC, I would pay 10,- as an absolute maximum (and even that would be overpriced). This game is one of the best I had in a while, also I'm a huge fan of the franchise and just loved all games from the series.
